Future reference for anyone finding this thread as part of a similar study - Opendota allows you to view all chat history. So it'll be a gold mine.
How does that work? Surely you can only access your own chat history?

I haven't tried other peoples games, but you can go into dota, get match ID, search ID, parse match, and then it adds that tab. Only shows things said in All chat. Not team chat.
