I was wondering if you can still buy AGP gfx cards and get x2 939 CPU's?

i know its old old tech, but i dont need much more performance right now, only a lil bit more.

Currently got a 6800GT, and a 3500+ soc 939.

can anyone help?

thx. :)

*awaits the lols that are coming up* :D

Well I thing you're out of luck on both counts. Your only hope is second hand.

Yep, there a sales thread in the classified. a 4800+ X2 939 for R450

And the best agp card u can get it the 3850 AGP, would be a nice combination :)

i see, and where would i get a HD3850 and how much would she set me back?

6 months ago they were going for between R1100 and R1400. I don't think you can get them anymore though.

I have a Radeon X1950XT AGP (with a Zalman VF1000 cooler) and dual core Opteron 165 (939) CPU I could sell, if you're interested PM me.

From the prices I see it's more like R2000, currently out of stock but expected to get more according to one place at least.

All 3 of my PC's are running 939 boards - 4800+ X2 in my PC, 4400+ X2 in my gaming rig and an Opteron Dual Core 170 in my server.

I got my 4400 X2 and Opteron 170 from ebay at a very reasonable price, brand new. I tried to find a couple more 4800's there, but they were waaay over-priced new - you may be lucky to get a decent 2nd-hand one and the one for R450 in the classifieds mentioned by Nameite is really a bargain in comparison - the 4800+ was/is the fasted 939 CPU available.

AGP cards are a different story - you can still find them new, but they can be hellish expensive, dependant on model - be weary of second-hand high-end cards.
I'm running a Gainward Bliss 7800GS, AGP, 512MB, 8x, in my PC - great card and fast! Cost a bit, but was worth it.
- the other two PC's are PCI-express.
