Went and got the R90pm Reward Card 1 contract at 8ta (for a friend) last year. For R90 per month you get a R2200 reward debit card with no 'device'.

Got the first invoice in my hand here:

Recurring Monthly fees
R015.08 CLI Presentation (never asked for this)
R159.68 Contract 1

SubTotal R174.76

This makes absolutely no sense to me. Been trying since yesterday to call the Telkom/8ta store in Somerset Mall where we got the contract to get some clarification on this... no luck. Rings a bunch of times, then voicemail.

I was expecting R90 per month, klaar, now I'm sitting with a R174.76 recurring monthly fee? Could this just be some weird pro-rated invoice or something that is not clearly marked as such?

Didn't they charge you Pro-Rata for the first month + Second month (R90)?

That's what MTN would have done. Your first month's invoice is never the price you signed the contract for as it is never a full month. You pay for the second month and the part of the first month you used.

I worked it out using some excelfu: R8.50 + R8.50 CLIP & R90 + R90 subscription per month minus 7 days pro rated on R8.50 + R90.
I got through to the 081180 number, nice lady there explained and confirmed it all to me. We were not informed about the CLIP costs and she disabled it for us.

Now to decide if the R15.08 charge is worth disputing - would need to go and have a chat with Andre at the Telkom Somerset Mall...

It's cost more in petrol to reverse that R15.08
