I was thinking the excact same thing about ivy and nqukula(or whatever his name is)

Idea and opportunity for people :

1. Grow lots of beetroot and garlic

2. Sell lots of garlic and beetroot to the masses, labeled as "HIV/AIDS prevention", thus making high profits.

3. When taken to court, says that Government is endorsing it....

:D :D :D

But seriously, there is something wrong here when Government turns a blind eye to reality...
 
Government Officials

The trouble in this country is Government Ministers and Officials are too comfortable in their jobs.
They would be more motivated if they were personally responsible for their actions and not able to hide behind the bureaucracy of Government.

Our Ministers cannot take constructive criticism and do not know how to look at themselves. Many Officials are also just blooming lazy or even ignorant to their function in Government, which amounts to almost the same thing.
The laziness aggravated from the top structures to the bottom echelons with the, "if the boss does nothing or knows nothing, so can I bunk off attitude".

In any other First World Country the current Minister of Health wouldn't even have got the job in the first place and if they did somehow get the job, one of two things would happen.
Either pull up your socks and show us you can do a days work or get out.

Lets rather play soccer and pay some foreigner 1.8Million a month to teach us how to play a game that is not going to put food on our tables.
This country needs to get it's priorities in order.
How many houses could have been built or how many people's quality of life could have been bettered with the right HIV treatment.

What our government officials need to learn first is that a government job means to serve the people not rule them. Government != aristocracy.
 
When 60 "experts" speak as one, I say follow the money.

Prevention is better than treatment.

But treatment is far more profitable.

if there was a cure for hiv/aids, you can rest assured that big business would make sure it would never see the light of day.

Even so, prevention is certainly NOT the broadsword strapped to the government's back in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Preaching "Healthy Diet" to a population that's likely living almost entirely off Maize meal (it really is the only mass food they can afford) is for some bizarre reason a priority? Just doesn't make any freaking sense... :confused:
 
there is no end to this debate kilo39, as none of us knows the real answer.
so it is best not to start, hehehe
