Aimbot ?

Can somebody please tell me what an aimbot is?

Some ppl on FEAR kill me with like 3 shots from a handgun while I'm blasting them with a machine gun. Even when I have full armor & health. Could this have something to do with aimbots or some sort of hack? Or do I just suck that bad? :D

I think they just better at the game :). no, it's the same problem i run into with resistance online, for some reason guys just ass rape me and i got a WAY better gun. but i think resistance is more to do with ranks as i played a map and the guys had the same rank as me or a little higher and i won the match by quite a bit. If you can send messages in fear(i'm to lazy to play online with fear) just say "Stop using hacks" or some other way to piss them off, if there other guys whom are getting owned they'll join your fight

I really think they are using hacks. My ping is like 60ms - should be good enough.

Resistance? Do you mean, that one on PS3 - "Resistance: Fall Of Man"? Looks like fun. How many players are there in SA for RFOM? Or do you play overseas ppl. How is the ping?
 
Well, i have to play overseas BUT there's really NO lag whats so ever... And i'm running some sh!tty telekom adsl connection (384kb/s). It's fun as hell, but use grenades as much as you can, you can kill up to 6 people with a air-fuel grenade.
 
Have you seen some of the Counterstrike videos from tournaments? Some of those guys just aim like undead machines. So I think maybe you just need practice.

On a different note, I was surprised to find how easy some games are to hack.

e.g. CS:Source: Patch one byte in memory and it displays the locations of everyone. Another and it switches to wireframe. And thats with cheats "off". lmao. Don't the valve guys know about memory encryption or at the very least dynamic memory addresses?
 
Yup, it's skill and cheats. i'm a "good" player at css but there some people who just RAPE you. they seem to be at a different world.

I do suppose that its like playing ruby with Habanna. no matter wont he'll beat you
 
btw, normally (don't know if this changed recently) the size of your gun and what armor you have on doesn't matter if they shoot you in the head...

If you attempted this on any of the SGS servers or any VAC server you would find yourself with a useless STEAM account very quickly imo. Been out of CSS for a while now but don't think things have changed that much.
 
3 shots? they must be aiming for the head. More often than not, accuracy will overcome 'spray and pray' tactics. You get this alot with snipers in AA using the M9.

Aiming for the head, with the handgun, from a big distance.

well, i head shot people in counter strike with a hand gun, maybe it's you, i kinda hate playing online coz i suck balls and i just end up getting angry.
 
I have heard that one way to spot someone using an aimbot, is that their movements are particularly jerky...they seem to move very erratically and are all over the place... think "breakdancing" :D

I play on the SGS servers and have not come across anyone yet
 
56kMan, long distance head shots with a pistol isnt uncommon. Iron sights are your best friend when shooting long distance, or if you need to accuracy with lower recoil. Most of these guys train with a weapon for ages, or just naturally 'click' with it.

Kompete, another thing to look out for is shooting while running. Sometimes jerky movements are caused by fluctuations in latency, which really pisses me off when you have enemies popping up out of nowhere, killing and t-bagging you before you have even seen them.
 
@56kMan: Aimbots can be difficult to detect. E.g. When you shoot, the bot just corrects your aim a little bit. If programmed competently then that will be very difficult to detect.

Yeah, I heard they have some high-powered detection stuff running. Even heard of people getting **** for macro-keyboards.

Wrote a quick app for the CSS byte patching thingy: (As James pointed out: DON'T USE ONLINE)

Host a local server with app running in background. Z and X key activate wiremesh/Other players location. If you have a steam a/c then don't risk this (even offline) cause I don't know how much CSS can remember.
