Good morning all.

I am currently looking for some one in the Cape Town area that has a full working client of Aion online.

The game has recently gone free to play and my fiance would love to try it ( i played it many years ago ). She is a current WOW player.

The issue is that I only have the first install discs from the copy I bought couple of years ago - there has since been an expansion called Assault on Balaurea and the patch from my version to that one is roughly 10GB. I have tried down loading it three times and it keeps on crashing and starts from zero again. I then tried to purchase the upgrade discs but all vendors have told me that they have sent their stock back to suppliers due to the fact that the game is now free to play.

So...if anyone is willing to assist me with this please let em know by either posting here or sending me a PM.

I only need the client - i will make it work through the launcher myself....i hope :)

Just going to give this a little bump. If no replies by Sunday or so I'll admit defeat and let this thread die :)
 
It's worth noting that the client is on Web Africa's freezone local FTP site. So anyone near you who has a WA account can DL it for free.
 
How difficult is it to get a WA account and is the entire client there or have they split it up into the first edition and then the expansion?

Is this the Gemeforge version, or the "truly-free-to-play" (North America Aion acsension) version?

The new Gameforge client. I managed to download the NCsoft version via torrent and then just updated it with the gameforge launcher. Took quite a while to get it all sorted but its working now. The Gameforge launcher checks what version you have on you PC and then just updates what is necessary.

Not sure what the difference is between the 2 version you mentioned - if I understand it correctly the ascension one will only be launched later for EU servers. My verison is also the "free to play" model. What makes this a nice game is the fact that is is actually free and there are loads to do and see :)
 
There is a big difference between the two. the gameforge one pretends to be free to play, but you have to buy a gold pack to enjoy all the game features. The truly free Aion is truly free :) and it has extra content like mounts, houses, and the level cap has been increased to lvl 60
I'm playing the gameforge one at the moment, but the place became a ghost town over night when everyone switched to aion ascension (north America) I've started downloading it, but I don't have uncapped, so at 13GB the game will end up costing me about R700 in bandwidth. I was hoping the web-Africa link was aion ascension, because my local bandwidth is free up to 20GB.

Hey, I wonder if you could update from Gameforge to ncsoft? The opposite of what you did :)
