Hi

I got my 8520 on the 18th of March, and I only now realized that there is an air bubble between the cover and the LCD.

There is no screen protector or shipping plastic on it. All tough I initially thought it was under the screen protector.

It is a small black, it moves when I lightly press the screen with my finger. I tried to move it out to the side but no luck.

I am planning to go to Vodacom today, but would rather keep my phone and actually have a Blackberry to use for the 2 weeks that it would probably take to get fixed.

As far as I know you get 7 days to cancel your contract and 14 days to swap out the phone, because of an out-of-the-box problem.

I got my phone in November, and 6 days later, I noticed dust under my screen. I didn't think it was such a big deal, so I just left it. Now, it's a bit annoying though, but I don't want to take my phone back, just for the amount of time it will take to have it fixed. I just can't let go of my BB :P

I also have a terrible dust issue on an 8520. Did you ever take it in?

Nah, I haven't yet. I am thinking of taking it to Vodacare to find out how long it'll take to get it fixed, but if it's gonna be two weeks, then I'd rather just leave it.

So, I went to vodacare this evening, and I was told that they don't repair blackberries (they don't even open them), they send it to JHB, and then the phones get swapped out, not fixed. That only happens if the handset is faulty. If I really want them to clean it for me, they can, but it will probably cost me the price of the phone. :| I might as well just buy myself a brand new screen and clean the screen myself!

What did they say they'd charge you? The phone is going to become unusable in daylight if it collects dust at this rate.

I wasn't given a number, but I was told I would most probably pay the price of the phone.

I'm glad you got it sorted out! A week and a half isn't that bad, hey. I'm not too sure what I'm going to do with this dust problem though, I might just take it somewhere they can actually fix it for me.

So, I FINALLY sent my phone in for repairs (2 months later :p) hehe, anyway, I sent it in on Sunday, and today I got an sms telling me I can collect my handset. I then phoned Vodacom to find out if they could fix the problem, as it was just way too quick for me, and the lady I spoke to told me they swapped the handset. I should've done this LONG ago! Lol! :D I hope this new handset won't have the same dust problem I had before.

I have the exact same problem with my screen although the air bubble came like 2 weeks after I got my black berry and its directly in the niddle of the screen I can't move it otherwise the screen goes that weirs colours. Its on contract so should I just go to vodacom?

Just go to who you have the contract with. Unfortunetly after the 14 day swap out they have to send it in. That could take a bit of time though.
Sometime they could advice you where to take the phone to speed the process up. Remember I had to take my one phone to Vodaworld some years back. Sometimes they can fix a small problem in a hour or three.
