Hi Guys,

I want to keep my new rig as clean and dust free as humanly possible. Was thinking of blowing it out once a week as maintenance. I have a compressor at home but that thing will blow the crap out of my rig I assume.

I have read about air in a can. Where can I get this and is it water free? The compressor of mine normally has a little bit of water in the air when I used it so a little scared :o

Turn on your compressor and blast air at a piece of A4 paper for 5 minutes, see if gets damp or dirty , will give you an idea if any thing other than air comes out of it.

I know for a fact it has water coming out. When decompressing it, water normally runs out the compressor.

Thanks Textile. Any idea how many times one can use the can for a quick blast? I want to buy a few just to be safe. Blasting it weekly I suppose would require less air at a time. Than doing it once a year :o

OMG!!! a leaf blower. Now that is a brilliant idea.
I'll go get one over the weekend. Epic ty Textile.

The water is condensation from humidity in the air.... on the bottle they recommend you spray in short bursts, that way you don't risk moisture build up.

I use it all the time, it works really well but it gets a bit expensive.... R100 a pop and that wont last long if you use it a lot.

I see someone said a leaf blower is perfect on that link from Textile. a small one is under a grand anyway. Will definitely go buy one of them. Not too powerful and they should work awesomely.

Hey bud, Checkers Hipers have those small air pump for blowing up air mattresses, i think i paid like R120 for it. Works like a dream only downside is that is has to be pluged into the car. But the cable is super long so its not an issues. Will upload a pic for you this afternoon if you want.

Edit: this one:

Make sure you keep the fans stationary when blowing out the case.

Thanks for the tip. Will surely do that. Any tips on how? The GPU alone has 3 fans

Little bit of selotape? to hold them in place?

Another brilliant idea. I don't mind carrying the case to the car. Just don't want it to be contaminated with water :)
I'll go have a look over the weekend.

I just use my wife's hairdryer. Just set it to the coldest setting and fire it off in short bursts.

I have a air blower that works ok
Looks something like this:

At home I just keep my air compressor empty when not in use and the air chamber's sump valve open.
When I need it I just close the sump valve and turn it on. Zero water that way.

I also set it to around 3 to 5 bar to blow out computers and electronics/sensitive stuff.
Just keep the fans from moving and no damage will come to the machine.

I find that air blowers and air in a can do not give you enough focus or enough pressure respectively.

At work my air goes through a drier.

We use those at work for blowing out pc's, works a charm.

Yea for light dust they are handy but our factory/cnc computers need quite a bit more pressure and sometimes even liquids (contact cleaner spray) to clean.
