Yes, @epah there are people in this world who make different decisions to you, and who might not agree with your assessment that the Philips is the best Airfryer in the world (I am not saying it isn't a good solid choice).

So with that being said I wanted to start this thread for general non-Philips airfryer discussions.

Last night I bought an Instant Vortex Plus 6-in-1 Air Fryer with ClearCook and OdourErase 5.7L. Got it on special for £89.
I know in SA its been fluctuating in price and is now sitting at R4k.

My Gran gifted us one of these:

Good chips, great bacon, amazing steak and chops (hit and miss though depending on the cut but overall very tender and juicy results).

First time owner and only had it for around 6 weeks now but it is fun.

Edit, I think pan fried steak beats braai any day of the week and this is more or less on par.
A combination works well though. Get a pan or work crazy hot on the gas, add some oil and drop in some steaks to sear the outsides then airfry to temp.

For that price she could've gotten you the real deal(Philips). That knock off wont have the patented starfish design which makes all the difference when airfrying.

Ninja is the only airfryer which I think can potentially compete with Philips. Too bad it is not officially available in South Africa and will probably cost around the same pric. Maybe when Amazon is finally here we have more options.

Otherwise I can highly recomend the Sunbeam Bowl Shaped Convection ovens. They not as quick and efficient as the Philips XL or XXL and a bit of a pain to clean, but has a lot of space for a full chicken and veggies.
If you on a tight budget it is worth it!

Only starfish I worry about is after too much chilly.

I used to use a Philips ( the older basic model), I bought this instant vortex model for R3k during Black Friday last year. Been using it for a year now, cooks better than the Philips from my experience having used both. It also has a bigger square shaped tray which allows you to add more food and the tray is very easy to clean. Lots of food reviewers rate Instant airfryers highly. But I’ve seen cosori airfryers rated as the best airfryers in many reviews

But can your Philips do 6 in 1 like a Transformer Toy?
Toy sounds about right. 16 in 1 is where it's at.

People still believe an Air Fryer is an Airfryer. As far as I know only Philips make Airfryers (note one word).
That is why they just end up buying knock offs, They dont know there is a huge difference.

I have a fairly used pure veg air fryer from Morphy Richards for sale.
Capacity is 3 liters for 2500

South Africa has access to limited brands in general and Philips has been around for ages. That’s probably why most people prefer Philips. The additional features are mostly marketing gimmicks.
