Can't comment on Airlive, but I had a similar setup running with two of these Ubiquiti Airmax grids.

I don't remember figures off hand, but the network managed north of 6mb/s real world copy speeds. Pings were low enough not to be a problem for online gaming or downloading (connecting to a 10MB ADSL connection felt like it was in my own house).

Setting everything up is easy, made even easier by Airview. It lets you use the actual location of the two base stations along with potential products, and gives you a visual estimate of what connectivity you'll probably experience.

Edit: That being said, I'd probably look at something in the 5GHz range if I were doing it all again.

As long as there is clear LOS, just get two 5Ghz Ubiquiti nanostations. Should be able to achieve around 50mbs real speeds in both directions. The nano stations are light and very easy to install, can literally glue it onto a surface. Then if you need extra/advanced routing capabilities get a couple mikrotik Rb750g's.

Good to hear that.

Not too keen of the AirLive products anyway. I think i'm going for the rocket MIMO. I rather pay a little more and have a solid connection.

Any installers available? (East Rand Area)

Do you want to use Rocket Dish ? You will get 100mbps on a distance like that if the conditions are good. We can do the install if you are keen. Send me a PM with your details.

Rockets + dishes would be a bit overkill for such a short link.

NanoStation M5's will work 100%. If you want to avoid such a wide beam on the antenna then I would suggest NanoBridges as they will be cheaper and offer similiar performance.

Remember to turn the power down to accommodate the high gain of the antenna.

+1 on this, Ubiquity is really good stuff.
