I'm thinking of porting my MTN number to Afrihost. Can I get an eSIM for my smartwatch and link it to the same number as my phone like I'm currently doing on MTN?

Might depend on the smart watch. If you're using an Apple Watch you're out of luck. What type is it?

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is not on Afrihost list of approved devices. Does that mean it won't work at all, or just that it hasn't been tested? I'm currently using the watch eSIM on MTN.

sign up a new eSIm with new number and test before you commit to a port.

Done and it works fine. Too bad I can't share my main number with the watch, but given MTNs data prices I can live with it.

Only allowing shared numbers on MTN contract seems like unnecessary gatekeeping, but what do I know.

I agree with you there.

At least you can easily transfer data and airtime between the SIMs in the Air Mobile app

An important use case for having a shared number is that I don't have to carry my phone with me everywhere.

FWIW Afrihost/MTN please fix this
