Hi there
My friend bought a pair of Airpods for me from Australia. She wants to ship it to me here in SA
QUestion, do i need to pay any tax beyond VAT and secondly do i need some kind of import license as well?

Thanks and also what else do i need

Adrian

The way I understand it is that its not purchased directly from a retailer and therefore not subject to any costs because she is sending it as a gift.

Perfect thanks!

You will definitely be paying VAT on it as it goes beyond the gift threshold.

So that would be 15% of 110% of the value excluding shipping.

You won’t need an importers code as a once off.

Ah! Makes sense! Thanks

Not sure if this will work, but if it's possible it may make more sense for her to return them there and buy you a pair from a local shop that could post it to you, if we have stock in SA.

I think the story revolves around the friend purchasing it for him as a gift.
