Our 128 kbs Senech hookup is fine but it is very limited as to where it can be placed in the house office and still receive a signal. We are therefore interested in installing an airport base station to go wireless from an optimised location.
But apparently, base stations are very different in terms of capacity and cost. The question I pose is simply this:
What is the best range and power one can get which will work off the sentech modem and work with G4 (Mac)laptop and a Dos laptop. Apple's airport base station for example, puts out 50 Milliwatts but is pretty much useles for penetrating a brick wall. I hear there are others that go up to 200 milliwatts and can penetrate same easily but I dont have any names much less the benefit of actual users like you yet. Anyone with experience and advice to offer will be most appreciated,
