Will be interesting to hear what other people think of it once you've seen it, but for me it was very meh.

I really wish they would have just ditched the Promotheus stuff entirely and focused on the xenomorphs, The tie-in to Promotheus just makes for boring watching and hampers that which made the Alien movies so good in the first place.
Also, the fact that they simply refuse to stay faithful to the xenomorph lore. Xenomorphs being born fully formed, blegh. What was wrong with the previous snake-like baby xenomorphs? The xenos overall were more in line with AvP xenos than the one in Alien or Aliens, which sucks.

The new 'back'-bursting aliens were pretty cool though.

I have no clue how anybody gets into this. Must be one of those things you gotta just be born in the right generation or something.

I've tried watching a couple of the movies and it's generally just space, aliens, biting, gruesome, horror, shooting, fear, space, the end.

Is that just me?

"Which made the alien movies so good"
1 and 2 were two completely different types of movies.
The problem these days is we've seen it all before. And then probably again as a reboot. Back then, movies were pushing the envelope of what could be done on screen. Now it's just rehashed stuff but in cgi.
Haven't seen this one but Prometheus was sub par.

Two hours of the most unmemorable movie time ever.

Not a new story and the "switch" was predictable.

Saw it tonight, some parts were cool, the crew members kinda stupid (like why would you go walking around an unexplored planet without any worry to being exposed to some kind of alien pathogen or bio-hazard?), lots of parts didn't make sense and when the movie ended it felt premature, like is that really it?

The depravity of David's mind was a bit of a shocker, that synth has really gone off the deep end!

If you have lost faith in Alien movies then this is definitely for you

Same. I heard about it a week after it went off the circuit.

I wish they explored his genetic experiments a bit more. Also, it would was kinda crappy that they didn't explore what happened with Eve. I have no idea why she would reassemble a psychopathic android.

Yeah, would have been cool but i suppose the movie was long enough.

She didn't know that David was a nutjob though? Also she needed him to find and fly the other Engineers ship out of there.

I'm still 50/50 on this movie but it will be interesting to see what they come up with in the next movie.

It's been a while since I saw Prometheus, but I'm pretty sure I remember that she knew how dangerous he was and that he was ultimately responsible for things going to crap. She only took him with because she couldn't fly the ship alone. I'd have to watch Prometheus again to be sure (and I really never want to watch it again :p).

Yeah, the next movie's going to have to tie in to the first Alien movie somehow. Curious to see how that happens. Especially because the ship they found on the planet in the first movie was piloted by an infected engineer.
