A mile and a half (two and a half kilometers) underwater, a remote control submersible's camera has captured an eerie surprise: an alien-like, long-armed, and—strangest of all—"elbowed" Magnapinna squid.

"A rare glimpse from Shell Oil of a giant squid brings to light the strange relationships some deep sea marine biologists have with drilling companies. The video of the squid (Magnapinna) is very rare as this creature remains largely a mystery to science. While some are concerned of a conflict of interest, biologists and big oil sure make for strange bedfellows. The video is from 200 miles off the coast of Houston, TX and about 4,000 feet down."

It disturbed me, at any rate :) It really does look like an alien creature... and to think that it's wandering around under the sea, along with how many other undiscovered things...

I can just imagine it walking out onto land and taking over :D

No life on this planet should be disturbing even the killers...
If anything Humans are the only disturbing creatures on this rock...

Squids fascinate me, namely Architeuthis (Giant Squid).
Ive browsed the net for photos of even videos of this ellusive ocean goer and havent been able to find too much.
What amazes me is the depths at which these things live, and how they hunt and feed. To know that the sperm whales natural prey is the giant squid and possibly a the sleeper shark but this hasnt been proven.
You can watch digitally created videos of a hunt, where a whale can be seen diving and attacking a squid, but obviously its just a general idea of how its done. We havent been able to find a live squid yet or manage to obtain a video of one alive or being attacked.
I have however seen on a sperm whale which washed up on milnerton beach some years ago, various sucker marks around its head and torso. Just seeing that was amazing enough, proved that they are out there, we just dont see it.
Sperm whales can, because they are the only whales that can dive deep enough to find them.
 
This is not the first alien type of creature to be filmed in Mexico either. I can't find the link now, but this guy on some other forum posted a very interesting theory on "aliens", but he suggested something else entirely. He had good evidence to suggest that aliens are actually insect hybrids of ants/grasshoppers, cos if you actually look closely, you will see that they have the exact features. There was a case years ago in which some Mexican guy was also digging with machinery and when he got to a certain point, he saw a bunch of "aliens" starting back at him. Apparently a shoot broke out etc... He suggests that there are these hybrid insects living underground. I'll try and find the link. Very interesting read. Now also keep in mind that there is also a secret government facility in Mexico. Strange stuff.

Put it this way then - it disturbs my peace of mind, to think of that wandering under the ocean where we don't know about it.

It's amazing and fascinating, but also somehow disturbing on a visceral level. I guess because it's so unlike anything we're used to seeing.
