all day headphones

Hi All

I asked this in the headphone thread "Gaming headphones: tips for buyers"
But my post and the replies seem to have disappeared

So I'll ask here, again
I'm a developer and the office is just to noisy, so I'm looking for a good set of headphones
that i can wear for long hours and that will help drown out the noise.

Someone said to have a look at the razer megalodons , but they're R1200 a pop

The Sennheiser PMX 40 works fine for me. Those bulky block-everything-out headphones that cover your ears tend to start hurting me after a few hours, which is why I opted for this one. It's also not as expensive.

I have a set of Sennheiser HD 485s for this exact purpose. If you want something comfortable, go for 'over the ear' design, and I would suggest to stay away from 'gaming' branded headphones where you pay a premium for name/style and not for the comfort/sound quality.

Sennheiser CX 300 II's or 400's or 500's, depending on how much you want to spend.
I had a pair of 300's before I lost them
They block out a lot of noise without you having the blast your ears with loud music.
And they are also really comfortable, I could wear them for hours at a time without my ears getting sore, from either the physical buds or from the music playing.
You can pick them up for about R350-500 depending where you look.

All day headphones that will be capable of drowning out the noise is going to set you back quite a few bucks, headphones capable of decent noise cancelation are usually quite bulky... I have a pair of Sennheiser headphone I bought for my ppl that are excelent at noise cancelation but will set you back 5k. I suggest looking at headphones used in the aviation industry as they are designed to be used for long periods at a time. It may cost a bit more but I have yet to see a pair of mainstream gaming headphones capable of the type of comfort my aviation headphones provide.
