all programs open with adobe

Hi

I installed adobe reader 8.1 on my vista notebook
but as soon as i do this it changes all my icons and programs to adobe
for example pastel internet explorer outlook word all try to open with adobe
and when i uninstall adobe its fine all programs back to default

Can anyone help me out please
i checked my default programs under control panel but ya
then i have to go and associate every file with its type

Use Foxit reader for now, or forever, it's much faster

I haven't heard of this problem before though, my Adobe 8.1 is fine on Vista.

It sounds like your programme/file associations are wrong. Use the "open with" option to correct this and make the correct programmes the defaults when opening up various other docs. Also have a look in adobe under edit - preferences - trust (something or other). toggle that and also see what happens
