People across all racial lines continue to join the ANC, proving it is not losing support, the party in KwaZulu-Natal said on Wednesday.

"As the support for the ANC in Indian, coloured and white communities grows significantly, the ANC yesterday [Tuesday] showed its political muscle when it welcomed 20 new members from the white community into its fold," provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala said in a statement.

"[The ANC] is an inclusive organisation which is home to everyone."

The number of people joining the African National Congress from different races was a true reflection of a society envisaged by former president Nelson Mandela and other leaders, he said.

In other totally not-in-any-way-politically-slanted news, Jacob Zuma competed in the Winter Olympics and won gold in the couples figure skating....single handed.

Why join the ANC though I mean really what is the point? As a white guy how would that benefit me honestly?

With the way the ANC is going along at the moment even black people are not benefitting by staying with the ANC.

That's it really, I guess if you work for government it has advantages *wink* but for the average guy on the street it's pointless.

How come we never see this in their gatherings and rallies?

This is a good question, maybe white people just don't like political gatherings and rallies, who knows?
Someone asked the same question about the recent DA march in Johannesburg which also showed a distinct lack of pale faces (apparently)!

Some poor sucker will end up being the poster boy no doubt.

Who on this forum is white and also a member of the ANC?

Ex-ANC voter here, divorced in 2008 after Zuma decided to disband the Scorpions for their investigation into the controversial arms deal. His interests have been self-seeking and likely had no intention of serving the people, as demostrated by his actions as president.

Cost of living has been steadily rising whilst Zuma has been in power, and the 1 trillion rand debt is no joke. It's the unemployed and lower income groups that suffer the most whilst the cost of living rises.

Considering Zuma is mostly talk and very little action unless it serves his image, I don't see myself voting for the ANC in the foreseeable future. In fact, I had voted DA in the 2011 by-elections.

If others feel the same way, it's entirely possible ANC is losing more than gaining.

Why did you vote for them up until then? Their AIDS-bungling, arms deal corruption, "I didn't struggle to be poor" nonsense not convincing enough to drop them?

And this part worries me: "Considering Zuma is mostly talk and very little action unless it serves his image, I don't see myself voting for the ANC in the foreseeable future."

Does this mean you'd consider voting for them again if Zuma were gone?

I'll repeat something I've said numerous times now: Zuma is not the problem, he's a symptom.

I know of two. Both run their own businesses and a large part of their business comes from government.

As the one said, 'Joining them is one thing, voting for them is an entirely different thing...'

let me guess, this guy went to the same school of spin as Vusi Moaner

Why not join EFF then ?

Joke aside, I have a friend who vote for the DA, but his wife (Sotho) supports the ANC. Anyway, race does not matter, many White people vote for the ANC and many Black people vote for the DA.
