Anyone using allyoucaneat?

If so how is the network, Downloading, P2P?

Thinking of signing up to it @ 580 a month for 30 GB shaped.

Any other network out there that is offering a better option?

Any help would be appreciated.

AYCE - Um - no complaints at all. Supplies a max of 512 kb's down + 256 up to a limit of 30GB. Ask a question, have it answered (even by email) within 15 minutes (including my slowness).
Daytime throughput - no idea, I don't do international stuff during the day. I can tell you that a VPN to and from the ofiice works like you're at the ofiice.
In other words, my 430 a month for 30 GB (Once off deal) is making me reallly happy, and my smile is just getting bigger and bigger, but - August is still around the corner.

i would sign with allyoucaneat amazing if you ask me speeds are great service is top notch really really happy with my 12 month contract for 480

The R480 offer was only valid for one month and that offer has been over for several months now. The offer is now R580 per month with a 6 month contract.

Snoopy_inc, I haven't had any direct experience with allyoucaneat, but if you do some searching on myadsl, you will see there has been a lot of controversy with this company and a lot of us will not support them because we feel they can't be trusted.

I would suggest you check out www.axxess.co.za and www.imaginet.co.za - both cost R579 and you don't have to sign a contract with either companies. A great deal of myadsl members have signed up with Axxess and appear to be very happy.

I have got an uncapped ISADSL account and am very happy with it. And its true uncapped, no uncapped but actually capped **** with IS...
 
snoopy_inc: I've been with AYCE since March and I can recommend them. They started the high cap accounts when uunet was going downhill. I can just underline what killadoob and stoke has writen here about being happy.
 
Im with all you can eat. Everything is good! P2p speed (torrents), browsing, ftp, mail everything. P2P feels faster than telkom but browsing feels slightly faster on normal telkom account

Damn, it seems the price war is on. It seems this is the cheapest 30gig account around. Anyone have any dealings with these guys?

LOL just asked the same question in the other thread. It seems too good to be true. And there doesn't appear to be a contract which needs to be signed, so it really is a good deal.

just arrived in SA from France, quite taken aback by prices over here !
On top of the service provider, AYCE or who ever else, can anybody tell me how much the line rental is ?
the only prices I got from Telkom are their full price, line rental and ADSL included... So how much every month will I have to pay those Telkom rand suckers ?

Hi Julie. Welcome to SA! I was in Paris last year, cool place. Currently ADSL pricing works like this:

Once off charges:
R291.60 for installation of a telephone line *
R404 for ADSL Installation
Rxxx for an ADSL modem (R799 through Telkom)

* only needed if you don't have a telephone line already

Monthly charges:
Rx for ADSL Line rental (see below)
R87.05 for regular telephone line rental
Rx for ISP account (R249 through Telkom for 3GB capped)

Currently the ADSL line rental is as follows:
HomeDSL 192 @ R329 p/m
HomeDSL 384 @ R449 p/m
HomeDSL 512 @ R599 p/m

So if you do everything through Telkom, and you have no existing phone line, you'd have to pay R291.60 + R404 + R799 = R1494.60 for installation and your modem.

Your monthly fee for a capped 3GB account using Telkom as your ISP on a 512kbps connection would be R249 + R599 + R87.05 = R935.05 per month for ISP costs, ADSL line rental and analogue line rental.

Please note that you can get an ADSL modem for free if you sign a 24 month contract with them. I wouldn't recommend it, but I mention it here for the sake of completeness.

Also note that from the 1st of August this year prices are going to be reduced to the following:

HomeDSL 192 @ R270 p/m
HomeDSL 384 @ R359 p/m
HomeDSL 512 @ R477 p/m

A new 1Mbit package will also be introduced, ISP prices might come down and the way connections are capped may also change.

Currently if you use up your 3GB of transfer you are put on a slower international link, but local remains uncapped. This is going to change. For other ISP packages available (I wouldn't recommend going with Telkom) go to www.hellkom.co.za and check out the bar on the left hand side of the page. It has a list of ISP account options with links to the ISP webpages.

R259 for a 3gb acc with a R150 setup charge? wtf what a rip.
 
Don't think you saw this.

I don't think thís is a rip. Cheapest yet.
