I was sitting in an "intersection", waiting for an opening. Dude had his indicator on to go right (my left, his right), so naturally I can go right (his left).

Next thing I know this dude doesn't stop, ****er forgot his indicator on. Luckily he slammed on his brakes and missed me by half a meter. Worst thing is, he probably didn't even know he had his indicator on so he think I drove in front of him.

Grrrr.

You did drive in front of him, and posting on your phone at the same time. I think you should be banned! :p

One of the first rules of the road is to not place your life on an indicator. Only if you see the indicator switched on (and even then, wait for deacceleration) and/or the turn initiated do you then make your move.

I would have been killed in a collision long ago if I trusted other drivers. Many times I've had to shake my head as someone does something stupid and reckless.

I also wait for the other driver to turn or slow down as though they are going to turn.... too many near misses.

You can never trust other drivers on the road. Too many reckless idgits out there. I always approach all intersections with extra caution even when the light is green

You must come and drive here in Oman. It's nerve wrecking. Indicators are just ornaments. Round about's(Circles) are the order of the day, some of them 3 lanes.
In normal intersections with traffic lights, it's fine as there are cameras all over. If you drive through a red light, you could spend up to 48 hours in jail.
Everyone here drive like p**cks all the time. Absolutely no patience. Flashing of lights, hooting and cutting in front of people are the order of the day. Shoulder driving is worse than the taxi's in SA.

Rant over.

Right turns should be banned. Problem solved.

Here near me is an intersection where I refuse to indicate if I am going to turn left. Let the oncoming drivers think that I am going straight.

The reason:
Even when I do wish to drive accross the intersection there are often cars that turn right infront of me, (OP at least feels bad, but these guys are serial offenders) while I am not even indicating to turn.

And when turning left there you have to compete with the idiots from the otherside turning right, and cutting you off, while you have right of way.

This is at traffic lights and not a fourway stop.

Indeed. People seem to think that just because there are two lanes in the road you're turning into, they're entitled to turn right into one of them while you're busy turning left.

yip.

After that turn it is but a few meters to the next lights, so if you wish to turn right there you kinda HAVE to turn left into the further lane.

Ok I'll ask... Who the **** works on a Sunday night/Monday Morning at 1am :o

AFAIK you are allowed to do this. So, if you turn left, you have to turn into the left most lane and if you turn right, you have to turn into the right most lane.

That quoted law is telling you what to do BEFORE you turn - ie, keep to the far left or far right of the road you're ON before you turn.

his or her intention to turn and shall steer his vehicle as near to the left side of the roadway on which he or she is travelling as circumstances may permit and shall make such turn with due care and merge into such traffic stream
steer to the left side, and then make the turn.

A similar incident happened to me last night. I stopped at a red robot and the green turning arrow to turn right was lit, so I made the right turn. A young laaitjie driving a citi golf with mags and sound worth more than his car flew past me at >80km/h (this is a residential area). He almost took me out.

I followed him to his house and got out my 4-tier wheel spanner and smiled at him after he exited his vehicle. That lil whippersnapper screamed for his mummy and ran inside the house. I waited there till his mum came out and told her what her precious lil princess had done.

What followed was so hilarious I laughed till my sides ached - his mum klapped that ou with a big metal spoon that she was using to cook breyani and was like "Ranveer, howmany times I must tell you to drive nicely, wait let your father come home".

That's brave, with my luck Ranveer would have had six older brothers all ready to kick my ass.
