okko is it too early to ask this. I am on mtn and due for an upgrade early next year. I am going to upgrade my contract. I am on the my choice top up 75. I want to go to the R100 now. I have decided to stay with them as if I go to vodacom have to give 3 months banmk statements and right now I dont have a bank account.

Anyways, what type of phone should I go for?? Nokia?? Samsung?? What?? Not really sure what the best is. Please help me decide lol :D

The best phones on the market are Sony Ericsson's. In every single category (like gaming, multimedia, internet, reliability etc.) Sony Ericssons win by far. The only problem is the price. If you want a decent phone on a R100 contract your gonna have to pay in. So start saving!

By that time the Sony Ericsson Aino, Satio and yari will just have been released. The satio has a 12MP camera, the Aino has HD gaming and the yari is more of a fasion phone. The Satio will unfortunately be VERY expensive (something like R12'000 on prepaid, about R8000 pay-in on that contract, maybe more). But the Aino is well worth considering, it will be somewhat cheaper and the games on that phone is amazing. The graphics compete with the PSP in my opinion. There are also a few other new phones on the Sony Ericsson line up incl. some that will possibly run Android (OS by google), which is a very BIG plus.

So go Sony Ericsson, Because they rule!!!!!

LMAO

I will not even talk phones (ok besides quickly saying that you should ignore sitnet... go Nokia) but networks.

Get those three months statements and move to Vodacom!! I changed to MTN about 8 months back and now I am regretting it. These anytime billing issues are a nightmare and mine recently went from an average of R350 up to R750 for July! I refused to pay it until checking it. I requested an itemised bill on three occasions but none was forthcoming, now today without warning they suspend my account. All I asked was to be able to check.....

Really I would suggest making the switch. I am already considering suffering the cost and porting back!

Hmmm Nokia? well to me the software is more reliable :D Just wait for a phone that appeals to you :)

I have been since 2005. Had a couple of hiccups but it all got sorted pretty quickly. Had no majoy billing issues and my bill is the same every month. Sometimes been less as they owed me. I have never gone over the R199 unless I put airtime on myself which is my choice anyways. I not really getting cash in my account so it wont help. i just have an acoount to put money in on a casual basis. The thought of changing right now no dont want to.

I have always had nokia or samsung. never a sony eriksson b4.....

Try an SE , they are great! simple like the Nokia.
Had K700i K800i T67i W880i and wanted to get a W995i but then i saw that Satio and Aino and even X2, but i dont know anymore though,....too many choices and it seems that the Samsung Omnia is better than the Satio as per the www.phonegg.com site...

help!?

Satio,if the lack of direct 3,5mm jack is not a major issue & smallish 1000 mAh battery

top specs:

ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz with PowerVR SGX graphics
256MB RAM
8GB microSD in box
12mp Cam with Xenon & LED flash
VGA videos at 30 fps
360 x 640 pixels, 3.5 inches screen
HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps + WLAN + GPS
All topped of with S60 V5 UI + SE own flash UI for home screen & media centre apps

Good Looking phone as well...in my book...

what about touch screen phones? are there any new models due for early next year?

atm i cant decide which one is right for me.....5800, samsung s8000 jet and the list goes on

I got a BB8520, yes the cheap one and I love it.
Push email, facebook, everything but the camera is good.
On MTN you pay a higher rate for the Blackberry service.
If you a Nokia fan, I suggest a E75 but depends on your budget...
email me for a voda contract, I'll try to assist you

HTC, unless you're a high end business user and email a lot - then BlackBerry

I just need to comment on this statement about reliability...

I have owned the following Sony Ericsson’s

• Z600
• K750
• P1i
• W890 x 2

Without a doubt the P1i and w890 were the most unreliable rubbish I have ever owned. If you want a phone that restarts perpetually, especially when you’re in the middle of an important call. Get a Sony Ericsson.

A lot of my friends experienced the same issues with their Sony Ericssons (this goes for nokia N series as well). Just about everyone I know is now split between HTC, Blackberry and the iPhone and no one complains about quality anymore.

Maybe Sony Ericsson has since gotten their act together but I’ve lost too much respect for them to give them another chance.

Really, i've had the same problem.my last 3 accounts jumped from an average R200 to R700& now i'm stuck with this for some 20 months more. this anytime per second story was in my personal opinion a big marketing ploy. anybody renewing to these new century contracts should do lots of homework

The problem with MTN is that they don't allow you to limit the use on the Anytime contracts in a meaningful way - i.e. in a way you can manage. This is impossible with their billing system that is always so late, and you can't disconnect services, such as Internet. Beware!
