Altcoin trading

I'm starting this thread to discuss Altcoin traders as opposed to mining.
Currently I'm testing the waters on Poloniex. It's great in that there are many coins, but frustrating in that it can be slow at times - not always good for short term trading / scalping in that sense. I'd love an MT4 plugin, there is a Poloniex API, so perhaps I'll look at figuring MQL4 out when there's a gap.
I'd love to be able to short, but there's no opportunity for that and I haven't figured out the stop loss yet so I tend to go for short term while I can keep an eye on it or longer term more stable pairs like BTC/ETH.

Hopefully there are other traders on here who want to discuss their highs, lows and news. Good / reliable Altcoin news is something I'm having a hard time finding.
 
Not sure I have the testicular fortitude for trading but happy to follow the thread.
 
Massive surge from the 0.13 low (BTC:ETH) right now. I need to figure out stop loss on poloniex and capitalize.

Yep... look at that!

Litecoin beat Etherium on the overnight gains and trading volume. That's the first time I've seen LTC above ETH on trading volume since I started 2 weeks ago.

What sets litecoin apart?
Could never get myself to buy a lot of them. It feels like it's the silver to Bitcoin's gold, but can't seem to figure out a use for it.

Technically it's superior having adopted SegWit and LightningNetwork. Other than that, there are way more in circulation than BTC.

Yep, Litecoin is making waves

However, the most intriguing movement came with Litecoin. In fact, the SegWit pacesetter jumped three places to be the world's number four crypto on Saturday. In the process, it pushed aside IOTA, NEM and Ethereum Classic, when just last Wednesday it was ranked seventh.

At the time writing on Sunday morning, LTC was being sold for $43.12 and its market cap has surpassed the $2 bln mark. In the past few weeks, the currency has gone through a metamorphosis.

First, they successfully activated SegWit and statements from the team indicated that there has yet to be a blemish. Then, the Chinese government lifted its ban on the withdrawal of Litecoin and Satoshis at exchanges. Finally, the community became aware with bliss of Charlie Lee's resignation from Coinbase to concentrate fully on his brainchild.
