This is my rant on Altech cellular and ANY OTHER COMPANY engaging in 'cold calling' telesales campaigns... banks and credit cards included.
My wife had to listen to a 10 minute telesales rant just to get a gap to explain to the salesperson that she doesn't earn an income and all cell phone contracts are in her husbands name.
I took over the call and told them that I have made a note of the company and will never purchase anything from them. I also asked where they got my wife's ID number and home address from and she said:
"We are a registered financial services company and have access to the national consumer database". She explained that's why the first thing they ask is to confirm that you are Mr or Mrs so-and-so and your ID number is such-and-such and your home address is xyz - i.e. it is voluntary. I told her what they need to do is make the first question "I want to sell you a cell phone contract, are you interested". They will save alot of time and money - that call lasted 5+ minutes and all they got was a piece of my mind and lost a potential future customer forever.
What a bunch of losers. This 'national consumer database' is going a long way to perpetuating the identity theft issues we have in this country.
What do you guys think? I personally NEVER buy from a company that cold calls.
