Assuming you have covereage,

3G is better if you are have low bandwidth requirements (ie mail and a bit of browsing).

Iburst is a lot faster, and cheaper per Gb. But the initial outlay is higher (R2500-R2800 for a desktop unit).

If you buy a datacard or Iburst Modem I guess you could sell it again after your ADSL is installed. Theres some risk that you will lose a bit on that, but I know I couldn't live for 8 weeks without internet!

PP123, I agree with GateCrasher, 3G is better, but judging from your prefix 474, you are in Industria/Bosmont/Riverlea area. Vodoacom signal is not to gr8t in those areas, so intermittent 3G connections, MTN is a bit better as you would get Edge speeds. I would steer away from Iburst, look at Sentech as well, I tried it in that area and gets OK signal.

PM me and I can point you in the right direction.
