Long story short, 7 visits and more than 5 calls made to Telkom. Voice and then DSL activated over 1.5 months. Only to have the whole thing taken back last Saturday due to some "web request" that I never log. Even the comment on the requests says new line and not transfer back to my old place.

I live in a complex that I am renting. Need to know if there is any other Internet connection options for an apartment that I do not own?

Strange that you experienced those problems.

I applied for a new line and DSL service for a house that my son is renting, in the same complex that we live in on 11/02/2015.
On Tuesday 17/02/2015 I was contacted telephonically that there was an issue at the exchange, as no ports were available, but that the technicians were working on the problem.
On 24/02/2015 I was contacted by a technician requesting a time when the installation could be done.

9 working days later and the line is in, internet is running smoothly, and no problems whatsoever.
We are using Telkom as the ISP on both lines.

FTTH? I have endless SNR issue in my complex and now I'm organizing FTTH its the way to go if available in your area.

Can't seem to find FTTH for the umhlanga ridge area.

Hoping bitco could work out and may need approval from body corp.

I have like no more options left aside from immigrating.

Emmigrating/moving.

So if no bitco approval you will have to pay extreme data cost with Telkom mobile or Axxess (MTN backbone), depending on who gives better signal. They are currently the cheapest of the mobile providers in terms of data bundles.

Have horrible signal here. Using MTN sim through afrihost and I generally get edge. Hence my frustration.

Some retard called on Friday to say it will be sorted within the hour of the call. Still don't have anything sorted. This is one of the reason's micro businesses fail. Lack of good infrastructure and service makes doing anything that requires connectivity pointless.
