Alternative to Gallery app on Note 3

My phone has is my primary means of taking pics and videos of family events etc... I use VidTrim to trim unwanted content from the beginning/end of my view then I upload view and pics to Picasa. All works really well. Except...

This stupid gallery app. It is laggy and slow. I have has this issue since Note 2, then S4 and now Note 3. I hate the freaking app. The problem is that it has the features I want and use.
Picasa and storage card stuff is all shown on the gallery. When launching a video, I get the option of the video player or VidTrim, and using the share option I can upload to my Picasa albums. Using the app is a frustrating experience because of the lag. When the lag starts (which is very soon after launch), it seems to hog all resources on my phone. It's terrible.
I have disabled buddy tag and all the background *** that the gallery defaults too, and while it helps a bit, it still blows.

So my question to fellow forumites is... What app do you use that has the above features? I need ALL the features listed above please.

And while on the topic, is there a better video editor than VidTrim?

Edit: Gave Quickpic a quick run through. Vast improvement on the stock gallery app except it does not give me an option to list all my Picasa albums directly in the app. All other requirements met though. I think I could live having to use a separate app for Picasa albums though. Just need to find a good one.

Will check out the other apps listed at Talk Android too.

Try the Photos app from Google+. Best one in my opinion.
