Alternative to VMCLite?

Mates have got a Huawei E220 with Vodacom sim and it's so slow you cannot use it or it simply does not work at all. The VMCLite software is version 3.2.1.156 and the E220 is on 11.110 firmware which I will update to 11.117 later today.

The thing is more stable by just using the windows dialer under network connections but still not great. Their Blackberries (also Vodacom) work fine even though the area only has EDGE coverage.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Sorry, if this thing was not so slow I would have searched and browsed a bit before posting but at this rate I would rather commit suicide than go down that road..

If windows dialer is working for you use it. Otherwise there is MDMA or Huawei Mobile Partner.

Why anyone would ever want to use VMC is beyond understanding... Use MDMA.

You leave it on, just disable autorun so it does not start up when you attach it.

From the maze that is the Huawei site: http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/productFeatures.do?pinfoId=282&directoryId=2462&treeId=462 get: UTPSB300D05SP00C03. This will replace VMClite with Mobile Partner, but give MDMA a go first.

Could someone please mail me or upload locally a working copy of the above software. I have tried 4 times now to download it from the Huawei site and every time it tells me the archive is corrupted. In the sticks right now so things are very slow.

E220 firmware & software

I know this topic has been discussed so many times before, so forgive me for bringing it up...

A few years back I bought an E220, and flashed it with new firmware so that I could use the "Mobile Partner" generic software instead of the crappy Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite that was on it. It still works up to now, without a hiccup.

My problem is, a friend of mine wants to do the same, but I have lost the 2 zip files (I think one was for a firmware upgrade to enable 7.2Mbps support and the other was the actual software upgrade to Mobile Partner). Does anyone have them, or perhaps even point me in the right direction please?
