Good day all,

This question has been asked tons before, but I require something a little different.

My dad owns a company that supplies CV Boot kits to Parts Incorporated (Midas). Now, in those kits are the actual CV Boot, grease, and clips.

He has been using a program called MYOB http://myob.com.au/ but the 20 year old version of the product. With the program being so old, there is no support. And well, to update will cost a few thousand which he just cannot afford.

I would like some suggestions on a product that can do the standard invoicing, inventory, statements, purchases and then of course the one that also matters, and perhaps more than anything is the manufacturing of the kits. So when a kit is added on an invoice, it will draw each item from the inventory to build the kit.

Anything out there that is a possibility?

Pastel express single company ( around the R1500 mark) *edit* sorry, didnt see the bit with manufacturing, thats only in full pastel partner)

Quickbooks, really easy to use

Sound like you dont only need Ordering/Invoicing you also need an inventory module.
Creating Kits are usually also referred to "Bil of material" long for BOM
We make use of Sage ERP 300 (AKA Accpac),

You create a BOM, which basically tells the system which items need to be kitted in to the product.
From there you create Assemblies telling the system how many of the BOMs you need to be assembled and then reduces stock QTYs accordingly

Accpac Cost us about 100K a year for support, but we have all the modules,
Dont know if you will get it for less than a few 1000 if you take a smaller package.

But when you search try adding Bill of Material or assemblies in the search keys hopefully you will find something that can do what you need.

Try OpenERP

Got this installed on my server. It's opensource as well has has a hosted option. Has many modules that would suit your needs. I use it for the accounting and hr bits.
