Alternatives to vienx

Hey people,

I use ViewNX 2 to convert my raw pics into jpeg or whatever i must.

The program keeps crashing, uses a crap load of resources!

I would like to know what yiu use?

On what platform? Windowz, Mac, Linux? On windowz I used to use Irfanview. Really good product. On OS X I'm using DPP (by Canon), I've also used Aperture (from Apple). Linux I used to use GIMP.

At times I need to convert 1000 - 2000 .NEF RAW images and I will not sit there and do it one at a time.

I am on windows 7, I know photoshop works but that can be done for each individual picture not batch loads.

Most decent photo editing software can do batch processing including Photoshop.

GIMP can also do batch processing using Script-Fu scripts.

When it comes to batch processing and scripting then I use a Linux Bash shell.
I guess Powershell will also work but I have no experience with it.

Lightroom handles batches quite well.

The Gimp & some scripts: should be able to find some closely matching what you need.

Yup. Handles raw and jpg very well. Made by Adobe, and can be used in conjunction with Photoshop. As in handle batches for initial processing, like setting colour balance and exposure, then exported to Photoshop for fine tuning.

I see on the store it's $175 exc tax for the full version, but you can also try the trial version for a time.
