Always slow 384

I have a home DSL 384, but it is terribly slow.

On Telkom test page I get between 100 - 170kb (bits). File downloads in South Africa are around 17Kb.

Any idea what I can do/check etc. I'm starting to think it may be worth doing back to dialup!!

maybe they installed 192 intead of 384! check your next account. If they are charging you for 384 go to telkom and ask them about it

You could have spyware or some such program on your PC which is using your bandwidth

I think rburley is correct, I use ADSL 192 - current stats = Your line speed is approximately 167.5 Kbps or 20.5 kBytes/sec
Get Telkom to check you line - you are being ripped off!!!

Thanks guys,

Spoke to Telkom and on International bandwidth meters it is now 295kb (don't know what happened to Telkom's speed test). Local downloads at 35-40Kb.
Good enough for me.
