Ok so long story short I have been through 4 Netgear DGN2200's (different versions) the first 2 times it got struck by lightning, the 3rd one simply failed. Now my line keeps losing sync throughout the day even though my SRN is at a stable 20dB. Telkom have tried everything and now they suspect the router.

The problem is this one hasnt been struck and here are the symptoms:

The router gets very very hot under the main SOC, about the same temp as a laptop adapter.

Now i want to know is can I possibly get a whole different model from the distributors because this one seems to be troublesome.

PS, router is still under warranty.

Best is to phone them and find out?

They can only say yes or no.

I used a DGN2200 for long time (still have it and works 100%). They do get very hot. I placed mine vertical upright (not sure if that is the right words) and seemed to help a lot.

Try and blow a fan on it for a while and see if it becomes more stable. If not, well TP-Link is your answer :D

Im still waiting for my IR Thermometer from the US, I reckon that spot is about 50C, would you say yous is that too?

Well in your thread about the DGN2200, i said you flashed a very old firmware, you didnt reply.

Sure - I really am not going to stuff about with the router. My last two worked well out the box.

This one can go back and thats that.

You could at least flash V1.0.0.46 and see if it helps you, if your problems disappear then my router is faulty.

PS: Use the router to flash it dont use the web page to do it.
