Good afternoon Forumites,

I am on a Link Africa/ Home connect 100/100 fibre package. I use the line for my UK IPTV service mostly via Android box Mecool Km9 Pro 4/32 unit, connected via Lan, and the same unit in the bedroom, connected via Wi-Fi.

I cant even watch the TV during the day as it buffers every minute or so. I have ran numerous speed tests both local and via the iptv app ( similar to the Smarters app ) and i can never get the speed up close to the 100 mark.

I have been on with Home choice and they have sent me a new router, that didn't work. Link Africa replaced the ONT. That also hasn't worked. I have ran Trace routes and they all seem within range (according to the HC support people).

I am really thinking that it can only be from Link Africa side, that they are blocking me from IPTV servers?

If is use my Vodacom phone as a Hotspot, it plays perfectly. DSTV now plays perfectly. Cyberflix and Cinema HD both play perfectly when connected to the fibre

any advice please?

Simple solution would be to to try stream via a pc/laptop via a VPN - you can try 1.1.1.1 from Cloudflare it connects locally and the network is solid and free to use.

If it streams fine then Home Connect might be throttling your connection, i have seen people complain about being throttled via HC in the past on here.

The IPTV service isnt availble to stream on a laptop of pc. only via their apps.
My concern is, if i change ISP, and it is still the link africa line ! Same cycle again.

I wish Rain 5G was available on the Bluff !!

Could you not use an emulator on pc? Like Nox or Bluestacks?

The limit shouldn't be on the fibre line more the ISP side of things.

Switch to us, we do stuff to improve international streams on our network. You probably have a touch of packet loss.

I'd like to. What down time would I have? I would like it to be a seemless. End with HC one day and the same day be active with you? Is that possible?

Yeap will respond to your PM

I watched perfect IPTV last night after i loaded up a VPN. Is this a good indication of being throttled?

Could mean HC network is bad to that region or you being throttled/that protocol is being throttled. VPN would mean their network would only carry it to point A and not know what's going on after that so the initial connection to that point wouldn't be throttled

One of the many reasons why I am leaving H-C at the end of the month. I am on Vumatel and not Link Africa.

I also cannot watch anything without using a VPN.

I am done with H-C.

Sounds about right for me too. I bought a VPN and now it works great. but the bloody speed is half of what i am paying for.

Customer service could be so much better. I asked them for the cancellation stuff, and haven't received a thing back from them.

I want to make sure they have no claw back on my account. I paid for the 75m installation myself

Good morning.

My situation has been resolved. It was a Link Africa problem. When i moved house in July ( 50/50 ), i had to cancel the connection through Home Connect, before getting my new line ( 100/100 ) installed and me new place.

Link Africa never closed out the old 50/50 connection and they opened up the new 100/100 line. So when i was calling and emailing and making a noise, they were configuring the ONT 50/50 line at the old house!!

All it took was a few keystrokes and my line at home is perfect now. Speedtest is now running @ 117/153

Now I'm happy
