Queen's reburial to cost R300mPosted by Leon on May 6, 2011 at 8:23am in Service Delivery Send Message View Discussions The reburial of King Goodwill Zwelithini's mother will cost the taxpayer R300 million.
eThekwini municipality spokesman Thembinkosi Ngcobo said the cost was justified as the project would benefit the community and promote the Zulu nation, the SABC reported on Wednesday.

The remains of Queen Thomozile Jezangani KaNdwandwe Zulu had been exhumed and would be reburied in Cato Manor on Saturday.

An unveiling and memorial ceremony would be held at the Umkhumbane Freedom Park on Sunday.- www.timeslive.co.za

Statement Of Correction: Reburial Will Not Cost R300m

Numerous media houses have falsely reported that the reburial, unveiling and memorial ceremony of Queen Thomozile Jezangani Ka Ndwandwe Zulu, King Goodwill Zwelithiniâs late mother, will cost R300
million. The Municipality would like to refute these claims.

The reburial is part of a project that is aimed at the development of Umkhumbane Freedom Park. This project will include a fully-fledged interactive cultural museum and heritage centre, linked to associated
commercial, retail and other complimentary activities under the Cultural Renaissance Programme of the eThekwini Municipality. It is estimated that the whole project will cost R300 million.

The funds for this development will not solely come from taxpayers. Some of the funds have already been received from the National Lottery and the Cator Manor Development Association. Further funding is
still being sourced.

Lovely. So who is scaling the money. Digging up bones can not cost that much.
So the lottery money is used to enrich fat cats. Proudly SA government!

I don't get this thread at all, you've just posted the correction saying that the funeral didn't cost R300 million, it was R1.5 mil apparently. Now what are you questioning?

Also there is a long thread on this if you search for it.
