Am i reading this right? Vox price

So i know nothing about Vox but go onto their website, 200GB = R159 (fatpipe whatever that means, hoping its not a bolt on)
Im currently with Afrihost but i mean Vox really 50% less that Afrihost?

Last time I phoned they said its a promotion price. But that was 1.5 months ago.

Speaking of which, got a pretty email from Afrihost saying prices are going up.
R10 increase for all packages under R199
R20 increase for all packages over R199

Edit: Afirihost R200Gb package is R199 according to website? What are you paying?

Promotional i assume is the price you pay after the promotion ended lol.

Ye Afrihost prices going up hence im looking at prices of other ISP's - now im abit shocked.

R199 for 100+100 but really only need 100GB, i never go over 75GB a month

And also remember that your Afrihost capped data is most probably shaped as well -whereas the Vox is unshaped. I packed up and moved from Afrihost when they started shaping their capped products...and no matter what they say, I could immediately see the difference when they started this.
Vox has been excellent.

Wait, what? Since when? I was about to change to the capped package purely because of shaping on my uncapped account. Its terrible.

They started their shaping end of 2016, beginning 2017 -IIRC.
I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and give them 2 or so months to see whether I can notice a difference.
I noticed a difference from the get-go. I still gave them 1 and a bit months, though, but it didn't change.
Why should I pay more for a shaped capped account than an unshaped capped account?
Enter Vox.

Honestly, the only thing I miss about Afrihost is the Control Console...but...unshaped, and cheaper, internet more than makes up for it ;)
(Oh and the 6 month data roll-over as well :D )

It would take a lot to get me to leave Vox - been on their 400Gb for R164 promo for a few years now. Best Internet I've ever had.

And another plus with Vox, whatever data you don't use carries over to the next month and so on, up to 6 times your original cap! Nice for those months where you get family or extra updates etc.

Lol your post made me make up my mind. Been thinking about it for 2 months but now ive decided to move to Vox. This weekend has been terrible regarding throttling and shaping on my Afrihost uncapped account. I even tried a capped account and shaping was still there. I have a 4mbps uncapped account. Their call centre agent read the logs and said shaping is applied at 1.2mbps on my account. You can understand the frustration I went through this weekend. Shaping at 1.2mbps on a 4mbps package.
So I guess good bye Afrihost.

worst weekend I had with VOX... my fatpipe had been very unstable and could not download nor stream and my port had been recreated last week. time to leave I think... VOX died along with the bolt on it seem....

Good for you! :)
BUT, as demonstrated below, it's not always "perfect" for everyone (no ISP is).

Everything I've expressed in this thread is, obviously, just my opinion and experience. As mentioned above, there isn't a single ISP in South Africa that's been perfect.
I've been blessed with awesome line stats (enter angelic sound here) and it's been nothing but a pleasure for me, one year in, thus far. :D

Anyway, I hope your issue gets sorted out, soonest.

I felt like the dumbest person ever 3 months ago when I cancelled my vox fat pipe and bolt on package. Yes cancelled. Im sure someone would have even bought it at that stage. I regretted it 2 days after. Moved to Afrihost because the uncapped package worked out cheaper than my vox 100gb + bolt on, not thinking about the quality of service I would lose. Definitely going back to Vox.
Now some consolation for me that they've cancelled it for all.

Holy hell, 3rd day Vox's Cart doesnt work, SURELY the CEO is noticing that they not getting any more money.

Only reason we left Vox was to take Telkom's uncapped packages which was a very good deal. I had afrihost capped accounts but damn even Telkoms uncapped account out perform them. Thinking of getting a 100gig backup with Vox. I miss their low latency, constantly under 10ms.

Good for you! :)

Yea I know. I was with Vox though so I know the service runs fine. Even with the uncapped bolt on, no shaping on that whatsoever.

Please let me know should you receive a price increase mailer from Vox soon. Obviously we can expect prices to go up 1st April. Want to see the price of the fatpipe 200Gb before actually signing up. I do want to sign up before month end though and before Afrihost charge me for next month.
