Am i registered for tax?

Hi, i recently started working and was told i need to register for tax, but my payslip shows i have a tax number? Does this mean i'm registered?

Have you asked SARS?

But yes, it would suggest you're registered.

X% seems about right though I'd suggest editing your post since you can deduce your salary from it.

And no, if anything its low. Remember 18% is the lowest tax bracket, 40% is the highest.

According to the Sars website you need to register within 60 days of starting to earn a taxable income.

I am not to sure if you might have been registered because you started working (maybe the company registered you). I can't remember the process. Did it many years ago.

Use the above link to see if you are being taxed to much. Depending on your salary 10% isn't that much. (seeing as the max is about 40%)

Also have a look at the following ta tables to see more or less in which tax % bracket you are supposed to fall.

If you have a tax number, you are registered. I suggest you register online as it will make filing tax returns easier
