I was wondering.
To get ADSL you need to pay R680 to telkom as a residential user per month, R800 for business.
You then need to subscribe either to Telkom or another ISP for the internet, another R200-around R300ish.Megalan offers PPTP service, R199 for 64k to 256k for R775/month which is supposedly unlimited via a vpn connection. Megalan say you need not be one of their subscribers to use their PPTP service.
So, am I right in thinking, why not skip the ISP stage in red above, and go straight for a guaranteed link with no limit via Megalan. How do Megalan check whether you have an ADSL account, there doesnt seem to be a mention of it in the application form?
Wouldnt it be almost like having a diginet(64k) line for like R879 for a residential user?
Somthing has to be wrong with the way I am thinking....any ideas?
