Hi,
Recently my iBurst has been unbelievably slow. Im in Cape Town. Ill post my ping later but i can tell you that about 30% time out.

I'm in CT too, and yes, it is slow. I'm not noticing it on local sites, but internationally is craaaawwwling. It has been erratic since last week, and has been particularly slow this afternoon.

Yep. For me its been horrible both local and international.

Here are my pings :

Yes it's been crawling and still is for me as well even though it seems some in CT say it's not too bad.
Starting to look like they want to chase away customers.

seems like they fixed there problem

i dont know if anybody in the cape town area noticed last wendsday when iburst was down till the morning 2'oclock that when it came back the download speeds were godly and still is ive used up my 1gig cap but still getting between 70 and 100 kbs download speeds on utorrent.

That happened to someone else too, looks like they messed up their capping software for a day or two after that.

They still haven't fixed this though..

I'm far from my cap and at this rate probably won't even reach it this month, my 33,6 lease line is about 10 times faster than my iBurst connection right now.

Useless is useless as iBurst tech team is useless, they seem to be competing with the accounts department.

iBurst speed sucks

As you can see, there is no possibility that iBurst can compete with Telkom on speed or performance.

I was an iBurst supporter, spending hard-earned cash on external yagi antenna and 8m mast. What did it buy me? No additional bandwidth on a m2m deal.

iBurst - you are now the tail-end charlie in the broadband stakes. You have let me, and all those supporters that you had, down in the biggest possible way.

The figures above speak for themselves - Telkom has you well and truly stuffed.

I seriously doubt that you will try to compete with Telkom. You will scrabble after the crumbs that may be left on the table.

It will take a great set of balls and tremendous imagination to compete with the inefficient and rapacious jolly green giant.

Do you have what it takes?????

That is one thing that I had learned the hard way. iBurst normally do their weekly maintenance of the network as from Wednesday midnite onwards. sometimes it take a long time and sometimes it's only for a few minutes. So take note at Midnite on Wednesdays you might not be able to access the internet because of maintenance.

Seems happy again this morning. One of the things that worries me a bit is that the downtime (or erratic time) seems to correlate to certain times of the day - typically post 16h00. I would guess that means there are either heavy users coming on, SPAM, viruses or something along those lines BUT it is erratic.

In general I've had good speeds - I average about 80kB - but when there are problems they seem to leave ripples on the network for days.

Yes back to normal speeds again for now, lets just hope it stays this way throughout the day/night, but the same happened yesterday.

I don't think that the problem is heavy usage since my tower is not saturated.
It seems to be a general problem with the CT network.

Seems I spoke too soon as it's starting to get erratic again as it did yesterday.

Mze seems to have become a vigourous anti-iBurst crusader since his switch. Watch out I might follow suit.

Poor iBurst connection - Cape Town

All my modems connecting to the Sea Point & Gardens towers are running at 200 kbps max...

Packet loss > 30%

Can iBurst not get their act together?
