Amazon Alexa AI revamp

A bit crappy that they don't have new hardware ... and that it's US

Now we finally have had a first glimpse at Alexa Plus, and confirmation that it will indeed be a subscription service, priced at $19.99 per month, or free for existing Prime members. As of right now, Amazon has confirmed rollout is exclusive to the US and will begin "in the next few weeks", prioritizing homes that feature an Echo Show 8, 10, 15 or 21.

Problem is, most people's exposure to AI is free models that make mistakes half the time and are purposely hobbled to prevent "controversy" the other half. Paid services may well be better, but few are going to be willing to pay when the AI they see in everyday life is stuff like Gemini hallucinating at the top of searches.

They have 180 million Prime members In the US - and seeing as it’s free with Prime, we’ll soon see how well works
