Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to step down in 2021

Amazon.com Inc. Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos will step down from his post in the third quarter of 2021 and be replaced by Andy Jassy, the head of the company’s cloud computing unit.

Jassy, 53, for years has been seen as a potential successor to Bezos, who founded the company as an online bookstore from his Seattle garage more than 25 years ago and became one of the world’s wealthiest men.

Jassy’s likelihood as successor seemed inevitable last year when Jeff Wilke, who was the consumer business chief and was also seen as a CEO candidate, announced he’d be leaving this year.

I dunno why, but I get a kind of Putinesque flavour in my mind when I think about Jeff "stepping down" from Amazon as CEO.

Jeff doesn't have majority share. He hasn't for a very long time, especially now that he divorced. So he is serving at the pleasure of the shareholders.

I'll admit he looks like he would kill your children but he is definitely not like a lot of other CEOs that are around because they own the most shares.
