Any idea when Amazon will expand their stock offering for amazon.co.za?

Currently stock sucks (compared to TL). Also they'll have things like an expansion product for a product they or nobody else sells locally :X3:

Make it make sense, biggest let down - compared to all the hype.

In 4 weeks time if you pre-ordered.

This at the very least.

Don't bother with a "soft" launch if it's this bad a year later tbh.

Still can't buy a damn Amazon product off amazon.co.za...

Buy from Amazon com, uk or jp. You can buy direct or via a forwarder (for items they won't sell direct).

Those products would first need to be supported in SA before Amazon.co.za sells them.

All that stock for the 7 people who still buy physical media...
It's more than you'd think, would be nice if we got the bluray players back in SA. Sony released a new 4k player and we can't get it.

Yeah and pay out of the ass for anything that's mildly heavier than 1kg and have SARS limits enforced.

No thanks.

Import taxes

You do understand that everything that is imported is levied an import tax?

It could be a tariff. Eg Trump's tariffs.
It could be VAT.
It could be ad valorem duty.

Usually Amazon keeps these duties to a minimum when you import using their own courier shipping.
You can at best save on the courier processing fee. For DHL it's R220 these days. But if you import a bigger consignment or the item is more expensive the R220 becomes a negligible amount. DHL doesn't charge this amount though when Amazon is the shipper or charges much less. If you ship an item from a foreign Amazon using their own shipping they sell the product minus the local (eg UK) tax.

Amazon isn't going to build warehouses in SA to house thousands of tons of Amazon.com products in SA.
They're not going to subsidize the shipping of so much stock here. Never mind that much of that stuff could also be marketplace sellers who use their logistics.

You can check. Does Amazon France have the variety that Amazon US have? Amazon UK has less variety than Amazon US, but they have 220V compatible appliances. Amazon Japan has a lot of domestic Japanese products. Amazon DE or FR also have products unique to their own countries. Some of these will ship internationally, for others you can use a forwarder. But Amazon . com has the greatest variety.

With Trump's tariffs Amazon.com's variety will decline however, as 90% of their products are imported from China.

I would only import region free Bluray players.
Local guys will only sell you region locked ones.
In the past local guys would often sell region free DVD players.

There are sites which sell these. In fact I own a Pioneer region free Bluray player but it gathers dust these days.

It may however be cheaper to buy a Region A BD player off Amazon.com anyway and buy only Region A blurays. Region A has the greatest variety by far.

Region free was generally for the dvd side, as my Samsung is "region" free for dvd not blu ray.
Though region free bluray would be cool.
