Amazon Dot - Sound Detection

Anyone used this ?
Does guard need to be on ?

I was just trying last night and set a 'baby crying' detection - but it never triggered. I set up Guard - and it then detected a baby.

I haven't read on any reviews that you need guard on, so curious about others experiences ? It could have been pure luck that it detected with guard on - so just checking

Yeah, the glass breaking is definitely only when armed. Not sure why the baby crying would be only on armed though, wouldn't make much sense.

It works all the time

I actually realised it had a quiet period of 5 minutes , which is why I couldn't activate it a second time - but up and running now

how did you guys get yours working?

I downloaded the app from 3rd party website for the Amazon app to work here in SA.
I have the Cube, Dot, and Echo, but the guard function on the dot does not show me that option ?

Any suggestions?

The Sound Detection is different to the Guard feature - but both worked for me without .

I don't recall needing to download anything though ?
