Amazon first to support Matter Cast

Amazon.com Inc. introduced a new feature that mimics Apple Inc.’s AirPlay while working across different platforms, setting the stage for iPhone and Android users to wirelessly stream video to its TV hardware.

The feature, called Matter Casting, is part of a push by Amazon to create interoperable services — an alternative to the propriety technology developed by Apple and Google.

I so badly want to give my opinion on this - but I know it'll cause so many issues

Lol 20 years after Airplay was first introduced. Can't innovate my ass!
1 - The feature, called Matter Casting, is part of a push by Amazon to create interoperable services — an alternative to the propriety technology developed by Apple and Google. It will make it easier for iOS and Android phones to send video to Amazon devices, such as its Fire TV boxes and sticks, as well as the Echo Show 15 smart display. For years, Apple’s AirPlay and Google’s Cast have offered this capability, letting users enjoy video from their phones on a large TV screen. But those systems don’t always work smoothly across platforms

2 - AirPlay is cool for people that like average 16 bit sound and the random lossy music thrown in - but if you need something better on the quality side, the only option really has been Chromecast. Having an alternative & interoperable devices is never a bad thing for the consumer at the end of the dasy

We'll see. Will probably fail just like Miracast.

I can’t wait. RCS and Matter are the first steps in freeing us from the walled garden

Actually to be fair - the 24/192 is not actually Chromecast.

I think that's limited to 24/96 - so using Chromecast will downsample the stream
