Anyone have a problem with getting the daily free app recently?

I'm getting a geographical error this morning trying to get Moon Phase Pro, i.e. not available in your region type thing, but it's exactly the same settings I use every other time and I've never had a problem. I don't always check or indeed download the free app every day, but last week I got Splashtop so I know it was working ok a couple of days ago.

I Normally use the Webpage to get the apps, and the Amazon market app just to install them.

That said, just tried and tested it seems to work fine, did not exactly want the moon phaze crap but yeah :)

OGroteKoning, had a similar issue, but I think he fixed it by uninstalling and installing the old Amazon Market app, oh and dont update it.

I do the same thing as you. Click on the 'get app' on the Amazon webpage on my laptop, do the one click checkout thing selecting my US visa (cough) and open the Amazon app on my phone to download it.

Now, I stumble at the first block, clicking on the 'get app' button gives this error...

"We are sorry...
We could not process your order because of geographical restrictions on the product which you were attempting to purchase. Please refer to the terms of use for this product to determine the geographical restrictions.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you."

I haven't updated my Amazon app or anything else on my phone and it's not even been running since last week when I got Splashtop. But now I am not even getting the chance to get to to the checkout before it bombs me out.

Don't know what to do now :(

Aaah I see a problem in there.

My phone has its own Amazon Account, and is in no way linked to any of my SA one that I use to order other things.

I wish it was so, the account is only for the free apps and is a different email address and details form my regular account. I use it for nothing else and have not signed into my regular account for ages.

The process has always been the same. First was click on 'get app', second was select my US visa or enter a new card details. I select the US visa and it tells me to download the app through the app store app on my S2. But there are no other details linked to me on this account.

I'll try reinstall the app a bit later and see how it goes, work is getting in the way of my leisure time at the moment :D

That is odd then, cause I never have to "select" anything.

I just click, "get App" and then it says thanx

I used market unlocker to get around this. The app has an option to enter a US proxy to access the Amazon appstore

I've used that successfully with the Android Market. (but have since worked out that access is dependent on your sim card. For example, I am in Chad at the moment and if I try to enter the market with my Chadian sim card, it's no go. Put in my Vodacom card and I'm immediately onto the SA market. So no need for a workaround anymore)

But the problem I'm having now is on my laptop. I'm not even running the Amazon app and have had no problems with it before this morning, even though no settings or details have changed at all. Somehow it's working out that I'm not in the US during the initial click of 'get app' button and that process is done using the office wi-fi. I can only think it's using my IP address, but why now all of a sudden?

I created a whole new Amazon persona and all is well in my Galaxy ... (pardon the pun)

Uninstall the Amazon app
Reinstall the "old" Amazon App you used for the first time
Create profile
Make sure you do not use any reference to South Africa (except, I used my SA cell nr for one click verification)
.... and it should work.

Were you doing the 'purchase' and download through your app? Because I've only been on the amazon site using my laptop so I can only think it's picking up my IP address. So just now I stuck in a US proxy server address into my browser (proxy-ip-list.com), and lo and behold, it worked...

So for some reason it has started picking up my IP address all of a sudden. But there were no probs when I was at home in SA last week and it was fine on Saturday here in Chad when I got Splashtop.

Reckon I'll just pop in a US proxy addy when I fancy the app and see how it goes. It's easier than going through the whole new account thing just now and at least it works.
