Amazon Kindle 2

No PDF support
No external/memory card support
Amazon won't sell content to non-USA addresses
Wireless won't work in ZA
R5000!!!

Bebook or Bookeen Cybook makes more sense this side of the pond.

Yeah, Ava posted a link somewhere... looks awesome and I love the fact that you can lend books to friends. As the articles said...

Comparing the BArnes and Noble reader to the Kindle is like comparing AOL to real internet.

To anyone who has bought the Kindle Intl version, do you still get charged vat when it arrives in SA, I notice that it Amazon adds 'import duties' to an order but does that include vat?

Options:
You can buy the USA version and use coupons to buy books - almost all Kindle Books, no issues. Wireless doesn't work, but you can use USB.

International version works on the network here in SA. No problem.

Current version will hold around 1500 books...so not sure why you want an SD card?

I've had one for a few months - quite cool

No additional charges when it arrives - only what you pay directly to Amazon :D

Yip, got my Kindle (International version) like 3 days ago. Wireless working really well - books in UNDER 60 sec :D
Also using a "US Amazon account" and thus have access to all the books :D
LOVING IT!!!!
