Amazon shows everyone again it’s serious about game developer, even if we’ve yet to see any major projects come of this venture.
Amazon has announced two pieces of tech earlier today, aimed at video game developers. The first is a 3D game engine called Lumberyard. The engine is capable of developing games for PC, consoles, and mobile.
It’s based on Crytek’s CryEngine, as well as other tech and code from Killer Instinct developer Double Helix and other Amazon AWS code, and supports devs looking to build multiplayer/social games where online instances are important.
Lumberyard is free to download and use, and doesn’t require subscription or revenue-share.
