No harm in raising a support ticketIs this normal that the ZAR amount at checkout is different to actual billed amount? Not sure whether to raise a support ticket or if this is normal with the currency conversion.

Yeah forgot their chat is quick to help. On it now thanks. No harm in raising a support ticket
Didn't see any such option (quite sure I've seen it previously but not this time). The quoted amount displayed a total in ZAR so figured that was fine. I'm fine with a few USD in either direction but 50%?That looks like it was billed in USD but quoted in ZAR.
You usually get asked at the end if you want to use Amazon’s converter or leave it to your bank, I suspect you said don’t use it and got billed in USD.

Anyway the support chat was a bit fruitless so will see what actually gets invoiced.
Nah I was responding to the amount in the order confirmation email. Maybe jumped the gun, was just a big difference so wanted to catch it before payment went through.Yeah I was about to say check the invoice.
Did the bank charge come through already?
The R745 probably includes duties and taxes.
It looks like R745 is the amount before the Gift Card value is deducted if you do the math.Nah I was responding to the amount in the order confirmation email. Maybe jumped the gun, was just a big difference so wanted to catch it before payment went through.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's included in the total of 31.77 USD.Remember they estimate customs duty.
Sometimes they estimate high but they will reimburse you the difference once its cleared customs.
Thanks. Ja strangely the support person didn't even register the voucher. They kept telling me R745 was the total. It's like the voucher registered in the checkout quote but then disappeared. It looks like R745 is the amount before the Gift Card value is deducted if you do the math.
So check what you were actually charged by your bank. Maybe the conversion is just buggy when a gift card discount is applied.
R745.16 / 46.16 = R16.14 per USD
R512.84 / 31.77 = R16.14 per USD
This can't be a coincidence.
It's possible that perhaps the gift card discount was disregarded in which case you'd need to get that sorted out with them.
On Canadian Amazon they add their VAT right at the end... its very frustrating. Those were already included under the Import Fees Deposit.
That's pretty slow. I ordered something on the 30th of May and had it in my hands on Tuesday (7 June). Ordered something else on the 11th of May that didn't ship to South Arica so I had to go via Aramex Global Shopper and even that only took 14 days.Delivered today for anyone interesting in rough ETA on Amazon deliveries. 19 days from ordering with standard courier option.
