EDIT: I just realized there is a sub-forum for this topic. @Admin could you please move the thread? Thank you.

Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing a very bizarre phenomenon with the Amazon Prime apps on both my Smart TV and Xbox.

The quality on both apps for any 1080p non-original title is abhorrent. It fluctuates colour tones, some scenes are grainy, some are blurry, others are perfectly fine only to be grainy again when the camera changes. This is not the case for any Amazon-Original titles though. These will stream seamlessly in 4K with no issues on both the TV and Xbox apps.

Now for the bizarre part. These same 1080p titles which have terrible quality on the Smart TV and Xbox apps have no such issues whatsoever when I use the Android app and cast it to my Google Chromecast. When casting the shows from my phone to my TV, the picture is crystal clear.:unsure:

Does anyone have any theories on what could be the issue? Is it just the TV and console apps that are made from potatoes? It's definitely not my connection or Wi-Fi since Netflix, YouTube or any other services stream perfectly fine in 4K on any app.

I'm at a loss and need some brainpower which exceeds my own.

1080p isn't going to look amazing on a 4K TV, unless it's downsampled from 4K, and if the content is older, even worse.

Regularly watch Prime on my Samsung 4K telly, and everything not in 4K still looks perfectly fine. Have you tried updating the app?

The problem is that it looks perfectly acceptable when casting it via Google Chromecast. The quality issues only appear when using the Console and TV apps.
