So my external is on the fritz and I thought I'd replace it with an external ssd.

Check takealot and they have the Samsung T3 500Gb for R4, 199. This same drive is available through Amazon (available for delivery to SA), at ~R2740. How does that work? Bit of a no brainer really but what is with local suppliers refusing to complete. The difference is a bit too large even when you take economies of scale into account.

Amazon will add on the import fees on check out, which is a pain. But if your parcel gets through customs without the import fees they will refund them.

I've ordered before, parcel came through without paying import fees, around 2 weeks later the fees were refunded to me.

The indicated Amazon price is total including all fees. I went through the checkout process to what it'll cost me.

The only the issue with Amazon is the lack of a local warranty. Local suppliers ripping us of is nothing new and sadly won't be changing any time soon.
