Hi, opinions and advice please. I need new pots and don't want to break the bank too much. Le Creueset is too pricey for now. I have too decide between AMC and Bastille cookware. I know AMC lasts forever almost. 8 piece set is around R3800 for Bastille and around R9000 for AMC. Both seem to be 18/10 stainless steel quality. What would you guys recommend? I love cooking and need something that will last, not sure if Bastille from Verimark is worth it and what the quality is like (I can get the set for R3000 down from R3800 with loyalty programmes, etc.) Thanks!

My AMC cookware is > 30 years old and is still going strong. What I like about AMC is their support e.g. doing refurbishments etc.

I dont trust stuff from Verimark. Go with AMC

Hi, I currently have Nutri-Stahl pots which is comparable to AMC and I have Bastille.

My Bastille pots is okay, but it really doesn't do that whole waterless cooking that it promises. The pots are much better quality than things that costs less than it though.

But I were you I would much rather buy the AMC or Nutri-Stahl pots if I were you. My pots were R15k but I got 2 sets (the medium and large set). My mothers Nutri-Stahl is 35 years old and she only needed to replace the the handle of one pot that broke (don't know how it broke though). The AMC and Nutri-Stahl stores also have the pay over 12 months without any interest option.

I do not understand? Le Creuset is too pricey, but you are considering R 9000 for AMC ?? How many pots and pans do you need or are you catering for a few families?

You need 3, max 4, good items for cooking in.

I would buy:
One 28cm Bauer frying pan
One 26cm Le Creuset skillet
One 27cm Le Creuset round Dutch oven/cocotte
One 20cm stainless steel saucepan with lid
One 28cm stainless steel saucepan with lid

That should be enough for just about anything you want to cook.

AMC FTW. Have only ever had great experience with their after sales support.

I remember we once sent a pot in for refurbishment after 20+years of use. they couldn't refurbish it so gave us a brand new one for free. that sort of service is hard to find IMO.

Damn and to think I bought a cheapy set over a decade ago and they are still going strong.

We have the AMC set for 12 years now. Not a single issue. Awesome Quality.
My mum and mum-in-law both have AMC sets for decades now and also still going strong.

I heard very good things abt the Bauer pan from Verimark.

No experience with Bastille though

My grandmother swears by AMC pots. She won't cook with anything else. The pots last for years a and years. She even bought me a couple.

Our AMC pots are 42 years old. We had them re-polished about 10 years ago, and they still look like new.

AMC really do give a "Lifetime " guarantee.
