AMD’s flagship FX-9590 CPU: expensive inefficiency?

Amd are releasing cpu's that are not being utilized right now. Why is that? Why do they have another 8 core cpu. I understand intel did it because there is a market but a small one. I don't grasp why amd are focusing on 8 cores though. Focus on making an intel beater or rival. Perhaps games port from playstation xbox one will make use of 8 cores?

As far as I know the xbox 1 and PS 4 will both come out with 8 core processors so it will likely be ported with 8 core processor capibillity.

And the new thing that amd is doing is partnering with game companies and bundling games with gpu's.

So I'm sure that 8 core processors will do very well in the near future.
